Meet Ashlyn. C/O 2018 and student at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City, NC. This young woman has a true go getter personality saturated  with sweet southern charm and has no trouble at all embracing life wholeheartedly. Dancing in the ocean? SURE! People staring? Who cares! I literally adore her! I LOVED her session that was done in Corolla, NC at the Whalehead Club and the beautiful beach. One of my favorite moments from Ashlyn’s session was when beautiful light falling on the grass caught my eye. This glorious light just happened to be falling onto a small patch of grass in the MIDDLE of the busy parking lot BUT there was awesome texture and light and I KNEW it would make for a beautiful image. I said, “I know you are going to think I’m crazy but I want you to kneel down right here and just trust me”….without missing a beat she did and the result is one of my favorite images from her session. I think it’s important to realize that there is BEAUTY all around us (even in a dumpster ally or a crowded parking lot), beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder who chooses to see extraordinary light in regular or ugly surroundings. That is the wonderful thing about art in general and the blessing of photography.
