Nothing…..and I mean NOTHING….truly prepares you to witness the labor and delivery process. Not 2 years of nursing school….5 years of being an RN….birthing 3 babies of my own….nope….I still wasn’t prepared. When you see someone you truly love in labor….everything goes out the window. You go through a wide range of emotions (and I mean wide)…from yelling PUSHHHH…. to holding your breath… to crying tears of joy and feeling the rush of pure happiness sweep over you…it was crazy for sure…but crazy special. Erica (my sister in law) asked me if I’d be willing to document the birth of her first baby and OF COURSE I said yes….how amazing to be able to witness and document such a pivotal moment in their lives. You may remember Erica and Will from their maternity session we did recently, you can see their gorgeous beach session here). The labor process started at around 3pm Sunday and carried over until the birth of the most precious baby, Kinsley Ann, at 12:22pm Monday afternoon. She was born 3 weeks early and still weighed a whopping 6 lbs 4 ounces and was 19 inches long. Erica labored like a champ, pushed liked a pro, and truly handled the whole process with ease and grace. Will, her husband, was by her side the entire time offering support, love and encouragement (and humor). Phyllis, her mom, kept Erica grounded and focused and was the calming presence in the room. I am so incredibly proud of these two…..they are amazing people (and I’m not just saying that because they are family)….Kinsley Ann is blessed to have you two as parents. Here is the birth story of Kinsley Ann Myrick….My first niece. You are loved beyond measure sweet child. AND…..a HUGE shout out to the AHHMAZING nursing staff especially Emily, Tracy and Hope. Ya’ll were awesome!
