How is it August already? Good gracious! Time flew by in July! School is right around the corner but the summer days are still here for a while longer. I have been at the beach with my family soaking in all the memories and loving every minute. Today I have another Outer Banks family photo session to share with you all. For this session I met up with Whitney, Dylan, and Peyton in Nags Head, North Carolina.

This sweet trio was staying at the First Colony Inn located in Nags Head. I am OBSESSED with this hotel. I hope to shoot a wedding here one day. It is on my photographer bucket list. The First Colony Inn is a historic hotel with the most gorgeous scenery. It is a photographer’s dream come true. This stately wooden hotel was built in the 1920s and 1930s. When you think of classic Outer Banks style architecture, this place is what pops up in your mind. This is classic beach life right here! Around the Inn, there is a garden, beautiful landscaping, and relaxing hammocks. My favorite spot was the picturesque walkway that leads to the beach. All along the walkway there were flowers that happened to be in full bloom so we took full advantage of this for their photos.

We found so many beautiful areas for photos around the hotel but as the sun was setting I knew it was time to head out onto the beach. Sometimes I meet clients on the beach and we are the only ones around. Sometimes the beach can get pretty crowded. There were quite a few people on the beach but we were able to work around them. It looks like these three had the beach all to themselves this day!

Unexpectedly, I had a little photographer in the making assisting me with this shoot. Peyton was super excited to help pose Mom and Dylan for a few shots and she really has a knack for it. TRULY. She has a creative eye that most kids her age do not have for photography and it was fun to watch her reaction when I showed her how the poses she set up looked on the back of the camera. I wish I could have seen her face when she saw the completed images that you see now.

We ended our time together in the water. Y’all should know I love for my clients to splash where the waves meet the shore. I get the best smiles and biggest laughs when the people in front of my lens can just let go and enjoy just being together. Something about toes in the sand and salt water splashing makes everyone feel like a kid again!

If you are ready to plan your Outer Banks family session for 2022, let me know! I would love to walk down the beach with you and yours! Also, I am serious about my dream to shoot a wedding at First Colony Inn. If you are booking a wedding there, let me capture your Nags Head wedding and give you those classic beachy images you are dreaming of for your big day! For now though, I am running back out onto the beach in Kitty Hawk with my youngins.
