While it is not wedding season in February, a lot of y’all are planning your 2021 wedding now and you are making my heart explode by choosing me to be your Elizabeth City wedding photographer. I had three couples book me for their wedding dates in one week! All this wedding planning has me looking back on the beautiful love stories I was honored to capture in 2020. Today I am sharing photos from the beautiful backyard wedding of Tyler and Caroline Bright!

Everything about the Bright wedding was a small town dream come true. I capture weddings all over the area of all sizes and styles. The Bright wedding was full of thoughtful details and lots of emotions. Caroline and Tyler are high school sweethearts who went to prom together as friends and are now husband and wife! Their wedding and reception was held at the bride’s family home and was so intimate and special for everyone invited.

As their wedding day unfolded, all the weather that can and usually does happen in the south in the summer happened! The sun was bright and hot. A thunderstorm rolled in and the rain came down sideways! This sweet couple never fretted for a moment. With all my wedding clients, part of the process before the wedding day is to carefully plan out a timeline for when we will take all your portraits as a couple, with your wedding party, and with your family. Some couples, like the Brights, do a first look! This moment was incredibly meaningful with Tyler waiting to see his bride out of the dock behind the house. Caroline and Tyler also scheduled their wedding party and family portraits before the ceremony. Most couples actually do this after the ceremony.  When we saw the rain coming our way from a distance during the ceremony, I knew it was a “God wink” that we had already completed all the meaningful portraits beforehand.

Caroline’s lace detailed gown was ideal for a southern summer wedding. The bridesmaids wore navy that coordinated perfectly with the sport coats worn by the groom and his groomsmen. I love the time I get to spend with the wedding party taking fun photos while they are getting ready, like the groomsmen toasting before the ceremony and the bridesmaids helping the bride get her gown just right before anyone else could see her.

The rain didn’t put a damper on the reception. Everyone gathered under the tent for lots of food, music, and fellowship. The dessert table was my favorite! There were a bunch of cakes, some homemade by Caroline’s mom and grandma and some made by local bakery, The Sweet Easy. The Bright wedding day ended with a gorgeous sunset. My job wasn’t done until I pulled them aside for just a few more photos as the sun went down. Did I mention this wedding was in my neighborhood? How cool is that? Enjoy my favorites from Caroline and Tyler’s wedding below!
