This is my second time photographing the Cashman family over the years of being an Outer Banks Family Photographer. The first time, I traveled all the way down to the 4×4 only area of Carova. While I no longer photograph down in that area, I am so thankful to have done so at one time and met the wonderful Cashman family in the process. Back then, their two older girls were little babies. I fell in love with the joyfulness of this family right then and there.

Over the years, through being facebook friends, I’ve been able to follow this sweet family’s growth and it’s been such a joy. So, when she reached out again for an updated family session with their newest baby, September couldn’t get here soon enough. Mandy is also a talented photographer based out of Pennsylvania, you can view her incredible work, here. Because Mom is a photographer, the girls are totally used to having their picture taken and they are total professionals. I’m not even kidding!

Mandy and the girls wore beautiful dresses from Joyfolie. It’s a brand that is known for their dresses having the ultimate twirl factor. They carry both womens, little girls and young adult sizes. I’ve personally bought dresses for my own family sessions throughout the years and continue to recommend this brand to my clients.

Jockey’s Ridge continues to be one of my favorite places for family session locations. It offers a great variety of different looks all within one walkable spot. The greenery, beautiful white sand and the driftwood pieces are the perfect spot to stop and photograph before heading over one (semi large) sand dune that opens up to what looks like a beautiful desert with whispy grass.

Often times, parents bring along help to baby and kid wrangle during the session. The Cashman family brought along Granddad and he was such a huge helping making all kinds of crazy noises and faces at the girls during the session. With five kids, two of my littlest being twins, I am no stranger to bringing help during our own family sessions. It truly does allow extra hands and extra eyes on everyone to help make the session go as smoothly as possible. We had to make sure to grab some sweet shots of this awesome Granddad at the end.

Another reason to pick Jockey’s Ridge as your Outer Banks Family Pictures location, is the possibility of snagging the most glorious sunset silhouette shot. Silhouette’s are made possible when there is nothing obstructing the light in the background and when you can get on higher ground. This allows the subjects to show best when there is nothing distracting in the background.

If you are planning your OBX vacation and already have your dates booked, please reach out as soon as possible to book me as Outer Banks family photographer. Summer dates go fast and it’s encouraged to book 3-4 months in advance.
