I’m going to be REAL with you.

Technology and Social Media Addiction is a real thing…an ugly thing.

and I struggle with this on a daily basis.

Not only just me but my children.

They struggle with wanting to play on their iPads and I struggle with wanting to constantly check social media.

I can’t tell you why I have to need to mindlessly scroll through Facebook, IG, Pinterest and then pick the phone up 5 minutes later and do it all again…but I do.

It wasn’t like this 5 years ago. I could have cared less about my phone or checking my email back then.

BUT the times have changed big time and so have the circumstances.

Looking around my home….One kid is on the ipad, the other one is walking around with my phone using an app, and the other one is watching TV.

And yep….there’s me…. doing something on the computer.

And I am literally at a breaking point….but I’m going to call it a turning point.

It’s not only driving me crazy but it’s driving my husband crazy.

Fast forward to now and I’m running a full time photography business whose main source of marketing is done ON social media.

I feel the need to constantly comment immediately as soon as someone comments on one of my pictures….(because I am TRULY thankful for the likes and comments)

AND I feel the urgency to reply back ASAP to a client email even when I’m doing something else….(because I REALLY want to do that session)

and….Yep….I feel the need to run my business ALL THE TIME with no normal business hours…

WHAT THE HELL?

Did I really just type that? Well…It’s the ugly truth.

I told you I was going to be real…even if it was ugly… even if I’m embarrassed about what I’m typing.

I LOVE my photography business…

BUT

I LOVE MY FAMILY A HELLUVA LOT MORE.

So starting today…

I’m making a change.

Not only a change for me but a change for my family.

For the kiddos AND me, there will be designated times to play with electronics.

For my photography business, THERE WILL BE NORMAL BUSINESS OPERATING HOURS.

I will do check in’s on social media and post things ONLY during certain times of the day.

I will reply to emails twice daily (once in the morning and once in the evening before signing off).

And guess what…. I can bet money that my business will still continue to thrive.

And on the slim chance that it doesn’t thrive….

MY FAMILY WILL THRIVE because of these changes.

AND at the end of the day…. that’s all that freakin’ matters in my book.
